9Spaces, Inc was founded in Washington State - by Dave Parker and David Dong. Parker and Dong met at Classmates.com where Dong was a Strategic Development Lead and Parker was on the Board of Directors. After the sale of the company to United Online, they teamed up to explore opportunities for companies in the US/China market.
The original 9Spaces vision was built as an online job board that aggregated more than 1,000,000 high-end jobs based on title, as well as over 300,000 profiles from China-based talent. The company builds its employee base from this deep resource of talent.

Over the last 20 years Dave's career success has included both product and service industries, selling both tangible and intangible products in the technology market including hardware, software, and wireless. For the last 10 years he has held executive positions in IT services, software distribution and hardware development companies as well as developing Asian joint ventures. Companies have included License Online (sold to SNX), Board Member for Classmates.com (sold to UNTD), Cauldron Solutions (sold in 2006), and Digital Marketing (sold in 2004).
Dave also served as an Entrepreneur in Residence for Mitsui & Company's IT investment group in Cupertino, CA. He is also on the Board of Directors for Guidant Financial Group and a Co-Founder and Board Member at OneAccord Corp. His non-profit Board roles have included the Software Information Industry Association (SIIA), and Seattle's Union Gospel Mission.
An Alumnus of the University of Washington, Dave has been recognized by the World Technology Network for Innovation in the Software Industry, Forbes "Best of the Web" and the Puget Sound Business Journal's "40 under 40". He is a frequent speaker on business and entrepreneurship.
David Dong is a leading software engineer with over 10 years experience in software development and management in the industries of social networking, eCommerce, online media, wireless services, and internet portal.
Mr. Dong was the Strategic Development Lead with Classmates.com, an online social networking connecting people and their past together. He played a major role in re-plat forming the application to be more scalable to meet new business needs, and in defining as well as implementing new service features for business growth. Mr. Dong was a principle engineer in Openwave, where he was a key member for company's cutting edge wireless location service product. Prior to Openwave, he was an active player in Loudeye's online media syndication product.
Mr. Dong's professional internet experience starts with ESPN.com. As one of the original members, he co-developed the first fully functional online sport site ESPN.com. After that, working with three other engineers, he helped launched one of the biggest and mostly visited online news site – ABCNews.com. Mr. Dong has extensive and in-depth knowledge in internet and IT industries. A native Chinese and fluent in both English and Chinese, he believes the real future of internet is "interneting" people together around the world. In 2001, as an oversea Chinese scholar, he was invited by Chinese government to visit high tech develop zones in Beijing and Tianjin. In 2004, he was invited by a local company in Shanghai as their senior consultant for the business and technical development.
